Each year, ceremonies honoring police
officers who gave their lives in the line of duty are held at the Idaho Peace Officer's Memorial in Meridian, Idaho. I have been honored to take photos of the ceremonies since the memorial site was established. Although I am now retired from the Idaho State Police, I would not miss this moving and important annual event, especially as a photographer who finds this an excellent photojournalistic opportunity.

There are always pictures to take. Sometimes you have to be a little more observant. This morning I needed to mow the lawn, but was waiting for the dew to dry a bit. As I looked at it, it occurred to me that there were pictures here - tiny drops that hung on the blades of grass like Christmas ornaments. I had to lie on my belly and use my GorrilaPod to brace the camera. I think this shot rewarded my efforts.

We're now using a Green Screen backdrop in the studio! What this does is allow us to shoot traditional studio portraits, and later add whatever kind of backdrop we like!
